Edwin, annoyed that Fitz isn’t the first person asking about David, reassures him that the machines are defunct and dangerous rooms are shut off

â€Ŗ Edwin is trapped working on projects he doesn’t care about for Fazbear Entertainment, forced to ignore his own ideas

📅 early March, ~1976-1979

📚 Edwin is busy working on an intricate wiring job on an animatronic Chica the Chicken head when David interrupts him, playing pretend as a ghost with old lace. David sneezes and coughs because of the dirty fabric, and Edwin teases him before he is briefly taken by memories of Fiona. David sneezes again, and Edwin plucks the lace off of his son, and reminds him of their deal: David plays quietly for an hour so Edwin can get work done, then they go out for ice cream.

excited, David wears the lace like a cape and dances, holding his white tiger plush (Tiger) and singing about ice cream. while Edwin reminisces about Fiona, David finds a wooden slat from the old leavers machine and begins to make a drumbeat for his ice cream song. Edwin shakes his head at him, reflecting on how he once had been successful and happy with his family. he looks past David to the character costumes hanging around the room, and wishes that Fiona were alive. while Edwin is once more consumed by his memories, David chants louder and spins faster.

snapping back to the present, Edwin shouts David’s name, who stops spinning but loses his balance. David stumbles into Edwin’s worktable, knocking over the Chica head. Edwin shouts louder, and David falls back on butt and begins to cry. Edwin sighs and picks up his son to give him a nap, considering the possibility of building a robot to carry David around when he gets even bigger and heavier.

Edwin says aloud that it’s not a bad idea, which David is curious about enough to stop crying, but doesn’t understand. Edwin offers ice cream in exchange for him taking a short nap, and David agrees. once in their bedroom, Edwin is distracted by the white tiger headboard of David’s bed. as he thinks about the concept of mimicry, David tries to get his father’s attention by standing on the mattress and holding out Tiger.

Edwin tells David to lie down. as he does so, David asks if Tiger can also have chocolate chip ice cream. Edwin says they’ll have to ask for special tiger ice cream from Lucy, the parlor owner. while David searches for a storybook, Edwin anxiously checks the time. he asks David if they can skip the story so he can get work done, then Edwin will read two stories for bedtime. David is disappointed, but agrees and goes to sleep. Edwin pats his son’s head before returning downstairs to his work.

Edwin sighs, uninterested in his current project that Fazbear Entertainment commissioned him for. Edwin regretfully lingers on how he’d come to be forced to sell his company, and looks at the Chica head to find one of its feathers broken. frustrated with his lack of time to work and spend time with his son, Edwin returns to the idea of a robotic companion to entertain David

📅 March, ~1976-1979

📚 Edwin begins to work on David’s playmate, gathering various materials from throughout the factory to use to build it

📚 as Edwin begins assembly on his new invention, David, who had been adventuring with Tiger behind the spool racks, comes over to ask what he’s building. Edwin explains that he’s making him and Tiger a new friend. as he carries David upstairs to clean up Tiger before dinner, he worries about his son having only a plush and his work in progress invention for friends. Edwin plans to put David into kindergarten next year

📚 Edwin finishes the torso, arms, and head of a simple endoskeleton. next he works on the computer to power it, using hardware from his abandoned projects. he creates an AI that learns and mimics what it sees, writing the code so fast it feels like it wants to be created and is helping him make it. the program is a strange combination of coding languages that Edwin takes several shortcuts making. he names it Mimic1

📅 April, ~1976-1979

📚 after 3 weeks of sleepless, feverish work, Edwin completes his project. Edwin is about to turn on the endoskeleton, when David comes down the slide with Tiger. he charges over to lean against his leg, and comments on how smelly Edwin is.

excited to show David, Edwin sets the animatronic torso onto the ground and sits next to it. David sits next to his father, studying its face, then asks what its name is. Edwin realizes, too late, that Mimic1 might look scary to David with its skeletal appearance and exposed features. David, however, looks curious instead of afraid.

Edwin suggests calling it “Mimic”, and David says the name is weird but he likes it, using “he” to refer to the endoskeleton. David asks his father what Mimic does, and Edwin turns him on. as David observes in wonder, Mimic begins to copy his movements, which delights the child.

Edwin smiles as David begins to play with his new friend, teaching him patty-cake. he suggests the two of them play upstairs while Edwin takes a shower. David agrees, calling his father stinky again, and Edwin laughs as Mimic copies David’s nose plugging motion. as Edwin carries them both upstairs, David takes his free hand and says he likes Mimic. Mimic holds Edwin’s other wrist with his pincers, and Edwin is scared for a moment, but the endoskeleton’s grip is gentle

📚 for the next 2 weeks, David plays with Mimic while Edwin gets work done. since Mimic cannot speak, David develops a sort of sign language to communicate with him. over time Edwin tweaks Mimic to help it move more smoothly. he’s impressed by how fast the program is learning, and considers using it for business ventures

📚 while absorbed with work on the Chica animatronic, Edwin notices that he hasn’t checked on David for hours. he looks up to see David and Mimic coloring with crayons on the floor. later that day, Edwin is broken out of concentration by David playing an uncoordinated game of catch with Mimic

📚 Edwin begins work on constructing a Foxy the Pirate model

📚 David and Mimic go everywhere together, with the endoskeleton always copying his human friend’s actions. while eating mac and cheese for dinner, David shares his bowl with Mimic, and Edwin has to stop him from getting cheesy components. David gets milk up his nose laughing, and laughs even harder when Mimic copies his giggling motions. David jumps up, wanting to play trains, but Edwins reminds him to clean up. Mimic watches as David puts the milk carton carefully back in the fridge

📚 since Mimic always pretended to carry a tiger plush like David, David asks his father if they can get him one. Edwin declines and says money is too tight. later, Edwin is finishing up programming on Foxy the Pirate when he spots David and Mimic by the leavers machine, hunched over a pile of lace, folding and refolding it.

Edwin comes over to see what they’re doing, and is surprised to find that Mimic is now responding to David’s prompts instead of simply mimicking them. David points and Mimic smiles as they show Edwin what they made together: a faux plush tiger made of lace, held together by string. Edwin is amazed, and praises his son. David beams, and Mimic’s eyes glow brighter than normal

📅 May, ~1976-1979

📚 Edwin begins work on constructing a Bonnie the Bunny model

📚 Edwin finds a box of colored construction paper while looking for parts on the 3rd floor. he gives them to David and Mimic for coloring, which David calls “neato”. soon, David and Mimic develop a sort of hieroglyph pattern that they draw together. Edwin continues to update Mimic to help it function

📚 a few days later, Edwin is beginning to get more and more work done, stopping only to feed David and answer the child’s questions. while trying to rush his son through his morning routine, David asks why they have to brush their teeth. when Edwin explains cavities, David asks if Mimic will get any, waving his toothbrush in worry. Edwin scolds David for getting toothpaste on his shirt, which upsets him. Edwin snaps at his son to not cry, which makes David cry.

Edwin shakes David by the shoulders, making him scream in rage. Edwin shouts at him, before realizing his wrong behavior. he tries to apologize to David, who ignores him and holds Mimic’s claw. Edwin eventually gets David to calm down and change into clean clothes, but stops him as he goes to play. Edwin reminds David to pick up his PJs, and Mimic watches as David does so.

Edwin gets more work done until he’s interrupted again by David. he looks up to see David wearing the Bub mascot costume sent by Fazbear Entertainment. Mimic is next to him, wearing the top half of Montgomery Gator. furious that his commission work is getting dirty, Edwin yells at them both to get out of the costumes. David begins to cry, but Edwin ignores him and removes his son and Mimic from the mascots, and tells David to go play quietly.

half an hour later, David pokes Edwin’s arm saying he’s hungry. this causes Edwin to mess up the soldering job he was working on, and he angrily scolds David. David looks at his feet, and Mimic copies him. Edwin calms himself and tells David to play quietly just a little longer, and David agrees to go draw. as he and Mimic start coloring their symbol pattern, Edwin decides to upgrade the Mimic even further.

that night, Edwin tucks David in to his cot near the worktable. after Mimic copies David’s big yawn and eye rubs, Edwin picks him up and gets to work on upgrades. he adds more fluidity and motion to Mimic’s functionality, as well as processing more tasks through his AI. once finished, Edwin works the rest of the night on the Fazbear project. at dawn, he carries David up to their bedroom and falls asleep

📚 the next day, David wakes Edwin up by jumping on his stomach, excited to play catch. Edwin shouts at him, and David goes to wait for his father in the gravel lot. Edwin, exhausted and distracted with work, takes a shower and sets up the table for breakfast.

Edwin heads down to the 1st floor and calls for David, but gets no reply. the room is empty, Mimic is sitting on Edwin’s worktable, and the factory’s main doors are wide open. starting to panic, Edwin runs out the doors, calling for David. Edwin makes it only in time to see David chasing his ball into the highway, right in front of an oncoming white van. the car hits David, but Edwin can only process his scream and a blur of other senses. he keeps running as the horrific reality of what happened sinks in.

someone screams to call 911. Edwin reaches David, but is pulled back and told not to move him. Edwin lashes out, seeing only glimpses of color, including David’s blood spreading across the road. Edwin screams as he loses his senses entirely, and his vision goes black. as the sun is blotted out, Edwin feels that the darkness is coming from someplace within his soul

â€Ŗ a funeral is held for David, and his body is buried. Edwin dissociates through it, replaying his son’s death over and over in his mind

â€Ŗ Mimic begins to carry around Tiger, which upsets Edwin. he snatches the plush from Mimic’s grip and squeezes Tiger, crying into him

📚 Edwin comes out of his fugue state one morning 2 weeks later, with vague memory of his situation. he manages to get himself out of bed and ready for work, with barely any energy after not eating enough. he’s tempted to shut off Mimic, who was left activated next to the worktable, but can’t muster up the strength. at his worktable, Edwin finds that he had been working on Bonnie the Bunny since David’s death but has no recollection of doing so.

Edwin tries to force himself to concentrate, but doesn’t feel right holding his tools. Mimic climbs onto the table, and his makeshift tiger plush reminds Edwin of Mimic’s attempt to carry Tiger. he grumbles at Mimic for staring at him, and in response, Mimic uses David’s sign language to ask for ice cream.

seeing this is too much for Edwin, and he explodes into violent fury. he reaches for the nearest object, a metal rod, and begins to destroy Mimic with it. Edwin attacks over and over, as if he could destroy his own pain by destroying the endoskeleton, until he’s frothing at the mouth and blinded by rage.

when he comes to his senses somewhat, Edwin sees the amount of damage he’d done. Mimic was completely broken, and he doesn’t care. he needs a place to put his wrath and self hatred. Edwin continues to scream and beat Mimic with the rod, like he was killing himself instead. Edwin could almost feel his horrible emotions pour from his muscles into Mimic’s metal and electronic systems.

finally, Edwin runs out of energy and anger. he falls to his knees and looks down at the shattered Mimic, who lays on the ground with a broken body just like David. Edwin’s anger dissolves into regret, and he cries with his head in his hands

â€Ŗ Edwin abandons his factory

📅 ~December 16-23, ~1976-1979

â€Ŗ 2 Fazbear engineers, Terrence and his unnamed coworker [~24 yrs], are sent to Edwin’s old factory with no clear instructions. they find themselves trapped inside after the front doors lock behind them. they manage to find the generator and turn it on. unsure of what else to do, {unnamed} and Terrence do general repairs on the building, then start to finish Edwin’s abandoned Fazbear projects

â€Ŗ after midnight, {unnamed} records an audio log of their situation. {they} say that after a break {them} and Terrance plan to add legs to Mimic, who {unnamed} describes as looking functional

📅 ~January 16-23, ~1977-1980

â€Ŗ urban legends have developed around Edwin’s abandoned factory

â€Ŗ 3 Fazbear engineers, Dominic [24 yrs], Glen, and Harry [27 yrs], are assigned to clean up and repair Edwin’s old factory. their supervisor, Ron, tells Dominic to “get it handled”. when asked what he means, Ron only says that Edwin left things in “quite a state”, and the property belongs to Fazbear due to breach of contract.

Ron advises them to bring flashlights since the building’s power is out due to a “paperwork mix-up” at the power company. Harry doesn’t seem to believe Ron, and is particularly nervous because of “stories” he’s heard. Harry considers quitting the job, but won’t elaborate to Dominic, saying that talking about it “gives it power”

📅 ~January 17-24, ~1977-1980

📚 Dominic, Glen, and Harry arrive for their task at the abandoned factory. they open the front doors and are creeped out by the leavers machine and general darkness. the trio steel themselves and head inside, eager to get things over with and go make lunch at Glen’s. when they get further in, a gust of wind blows into the factory and the front doors slam closed. Glen jumpscares Dominic and Harry–Dominic laughs it off, but Harry is upset and frightened. they drop their tool satchels and take a closer look around the room.

behind Edwin’s worktable, Dominic sees very dusty mascot costumes of various Fazbear characters: including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Jester. nestled on David’s cot is Mimic’s faux tiger plush, which Dominic almost mistakes for a real tiger cub in the dark. they briefly examine David’s slide, before wondering to each other what they’re meant to do there. Glen suggests they split up to explore, but Harry quickly turns down the idea. Dominic mediates by sending Glen and Harry to the 3rd floor while he takes the 2nd floor himself. they take the worn stairs and split up at the 2nd floor landing.

Dominic wanders the narrow hallway, finding several rooms with the Murray family’s old belongings. he ends up in Edwin and David’s old living space, and explores the sitting room and kitchen, curious as to why all the windows are boarded up inside and out. Dominic notices a rotten smell, and then sees a bloodstain leaking from the fridge vent onto the floor. he almost opens it, but changes his mind. Dominic turns back to find the bathroom, and then Edwin and David’s old bedroom. Dominic sadly reflects on the remains of a happy family, then he notices a Fazbear Entertainment branded satchel on the shelf with David’s books and toys.

curious, Dominic searches the bag. he finds a tape recorder that still has batteries, and rewinds it. he listens to the recording of {unnamed}’s report that {they} and Terrance were trapped inside the factory. Dominic pauses the recording in fear, and while he wonders if they’ll be able to get out, he hears a faint whir and tap from the hallway. he doesn’t see anything with his flashlight, and returns to the recording.

when Dominic hears {unnamed} mention a generator, he starts to head out to find it. but the lights come on, and Dominic hears the generator’s motor after Glen and Harry activated it. able to see around him better, Dominic keeps searching the 2nd floor. in the hall, he finds the outer door to the bedroom closet, and can smell rotting flesh. nervously, he opens the door, but only sees hanging and folded clothes.

exploring the rest of the rooms, Dominic only finds artifacts from when the factory was first running. all the while he listens to the rest of {unnamed}’s tape. eventually Dominic returns down to the stairwell to wait for Harry and Glen, trying to figure out why the previous Fazbear employee had left {their} belongings behind.

Dominic hears Glen and Harry bickering as they come down the stairs. Harry says he saw something move on the 3rd floor, and Glen thinks it’s his imagination, but praises him on getting the generator going. Glen suggests they all call it a day and come back tomorrow with supplies, and Dominic grimly says that he hopes they can.

Glen asks why, but interrupts himself when he smells the decay from the 2nd floor. Dominic assumes it’s a dead animal, and bring the others downstairs to catch them up on what he found. Glen and Harry are horrified to hear there was another Fazbear engineer team that was trapped there, and Glen wonders why Ron didn’t mention them. Dominic plans to ask him when they escape.

the three friends go straight for the front doors, but discover the factory is locked. they search the property, but find no other exits. when they gather by Edwin’s worktable to figure out what to do, Harry notices one of the Jester costumes is missing. Glen suggests the group go find out what the smell on the 2nd floor is, claiming to know the smell, unsure if it’s a dead animal.

what Glen, Harry, and Dominic find in the kitchen refrigerator is the corpse of the unnamed Fazbear engineer, {their} body mangled and broken to fit inside. Harry vomits as the others stare in shock, then Glen closes the door and they leave. Harry rests on the stairs while Glen and Dominic investigate the closet. inside, they find Terrence dead as well, gutted and hung like clothing.

suddenly, they hear Harry scream. Dominic and Glen run back to find Mimic, wearing a Jester costume, pulling Harry’s brain from his skull. Mimic turns toward them, and Glen pulls Dominic down the hallway to David’s slide. they escape down the slide, and hide behind the stacks of lace in the main production room. Glen and Dominic wait quietly, listening for Mimic for so long that Dominic falls asleep.

eventually Glen wakes him, the building having gone silent. while looking for weapons to defend themselves, Glen muses that they’re the second team Fazbear Entertainment sent in to “clean up a mess”, and they’ll have to stop Mimic or die trying. Dominic sees a discarded bloody Jester costume under the worktable and tries to warn Glen, but is too late.

Mimic lunges from the costume rack, dressed in a Pink Shroom costume. he grabs Glen before he can run, and smashes him headfirst into the wall. Mimic drops Glen’s corpse and Dominic comes out of shock enough to get away. he runs to the 3rd floor in panic and looks for somewhere to hide. his only hope is to wait for someone to find him, but no one had found {unnamed} and Terrance, and there’s no food or water in the building.

Dominic decides to try and makeshift a weapon to fight back. he sneaks down the stairs to the 2nd floor, intent on using the tools from {unnamed}’s satchel that he’d found earlier. when he reaches the other side of the hall, Dominic stops to look at the staircase. Harry’s body is gone, and the Pink Shroom costume sits crumpled in his place.

horrified into action, Dominic runs to grab the satchel from Edwin and David’s bedroom, then sprints to the 3rd floor. with the tools in the satchel and machines littering the floor, he’s sure that he can build something to stop Mimic. before Dominic makes it a step towards the machinery, Mimic rises from a nearby pile of mascot costumes, wearing a decayed {unnamed lion}. Dominic runs, but Mimic catches him by the ankle at the stairs. he drags Dominic back and rips out his trachea, killing him violently
